Recipes, Reviews, Food And Travel

My childhood in Kolkata and setting up homes with S in different cities like Kolkata, Colombo, Frankfurt and Dubai – have shaped our cooking and moulded our taste-buds. Post-holidays, we are on our own food trips at home, experimenting our newly acquired expertise on the local cuisine fused with our regular cooking. We manage to invent new dishes which are mostly eagerly anticipated by family and friends. Since we come from Bengal in India, there are lot of experiments on Bengali cuisine. My Lady Friday hails from Bicol, a region in Philippines known for it’s spicy cuisine. Hence, we love Filipino food too. Another food topic that is very emotionally discussed in our family and amongst friends, is Desserts and Sweets. After-all, Bongs (an ubér-cool term for Bengalis) are genetically predisposed to be inclined to sweets! Do read more about me here, you will understand how food and travel shapes my life.

Dubai is my adopted home currently, while Kolkata holds a lot of nostalgia. Hence, my Dubai and Kolkata diaries may overlap often.

Kasha Mangsho / slowcooked Lamb for dinner #rightnow. But without the *aloo* or the potatos is like sipping into a fizz-less champagne!

Life is such... sweet dreams folks :) #KashaMangsho #traditional #Bengali #cuisine #inmykitchen #Dubai #myDubai #dubaifood #dubaiunblogged #ishitaunblogged Today's breakfast beauty... the legendary Milk Tart made by my South African friend. Nothing like a *home made* something... anything!!! What about you? Do you think cooking is a chore and would rather wait for any opportunity to dine out?

#tart #dessert #breakfast #latergram #Dubai #myDubai #dubaifood #dubaiunblogged #ishitaunblogged Simplicity in ingredients, beautiful presentation and needless to mention absolute deliciousness... that's Chef Izu Ani's mantra. This simple starter with Lebanese Mountain Tomato just adheres to that mantra.
The first of a series of Badoit dinners in collaboration with @restronaut. Still reminiscing my last evening!

#restronaut #laserre #badoit #ChefIzuAni #dinner #latergram #Dubai #myDubai #dubaifood #dubaiunblogged #ishitaunblogged @laserredubai Good Morning! Some beautiful instagram moments for sure, seated at the Chef's Table and tasting a special menu created by Chef Izu Ani @laserredubai... this was the first of a series of *secret Badoit dinners* designed in collaboration with @restronaut, the social dining platform. Have you ever booked yourself in a table with complete strangers... the only thing you know probably are that your interests are similar?

I had a fabulous company in *known* foodie friends though... @mycustardpie @foodiva @talasoubra @chefandsteward :) #GoodMorningDubai #restronaut #laserre #badoit #ChefIzuAni #dinner #latergram #Dubai #myDubai #dubaifood #dubaiunblogged #ishitaunblogged This is a fragrant, orangiliscious, delicious and a tantalising Orange Chicken cooked at home. And it tastes absolutely #WOW!

#chicken #inmykitchen #Dubai #myDubai #dubaifood #dubaiunblogged #ishitaunblogged Any time is tea time, specially if its Masala Chai... what say? Love the plastic holders replicating the *desi* iron holders. Afternoon tea anyone?

Desi Masala Chai or Emirati Kadak... what's in a name?

#masalachai #whpteatime #ChaChaChai #SZR #Dubai #myDubai #dubaifood #dubaiunblogged #ishitaunblogged Salivating as I post this... *phuchka* or panipuris as you would probably know these as... the spicy, sour tamarind water, the mint chutney and the crumbling puris... an epic session at friends' place over the weekend!
Kickstarting my weekend-special food and travel story today. What's yours?
#GoodMorningDubai #weekend #friends #Dubai #myDubai #dubaifood #dubaiunblogged #ishitaunblogged Localising the traditional Bengali flavour of *Mishti Doi* with pomegranates. Lately, I've been experimenting with different variants... toppings, flavours and texture. And this one's been a successful experiment, certified by my friend @shellysur :) That's #myDubai story. What's yours?
